The Indiana County Pennsylvania Senior Environmental Corps is hosted by Aging Services, Inc. and has an office in the Oak Place Community Center. Formed in 1997 in a partnership with the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), Pennsylvania Department of Aging (PDA), Environmental Alliance for Senior Involvement (EASI) and the Corporations for National Service/VISTA, this group of volunteers is very active in their duties. They test water quality, conduct educational programs, maintain a database of their results, test for abandoned mine drainage and monitor five watersheds in Indiana County.
They are always looking for new volunteers to join their ranks. No special training is needed, just a willingness to volunteer and get involved! If you would like to know what it’s all about, why not attend one of their monthly meetings held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 9:00 am at the Oak Place Community Center.
